Furniture Information Sheet & Ordering
Furniture: All furniture is designed for indoor and outdoor use. It's crafted to order and can be stained, painted, left natural, or any combination. Furniture includes chairs, ottomans, and a variety of tables, including coffee and side table, garden, grill, kitchen or picnic style.
Wood: The majority of the wood used is thick 5/4" and 6/4" Cypress. Unlike pine, Cypress will not wick water and rot. It's also natural to this area, which makes it especially resistant to decay, splitting and warping. Cypress is also a very stable wood, that stained or natural, ages gracefully. Other wood includes Brazilian Ipe (also called Ironwood and Brazilian Walnut), Cedar, and reclaimed woods from decks, docks, picnic tables and fence boards.
Hardware: High performance deck hardware is used for internal construction; two types of stainless steel bolts, washers and nuts are used for exposed areas (regular stainless steel and marine grade stainless steel - 316) There is a small extra charge for the marine grade. Visible screw holes are countersunk and pegged using premium waterproof glue. Children's chairs have two recessed nylon acorn nuts covering the stainless steel nuts on the back support for safety.
Finishes: I use Sikkens brand semi-translucent exterior stains, which are designed for use on high-end log cabins, decks and boats and will provide your furniture with years of maintenance free living. You have the option of choosing from a standard flat finish (one coat of Sikkens - SRD) or premium glossy (three coats of Sikkens - Cetol 1). The SRD takes about 9 days to dry and the Cetol 1 takes about 20 days or more (because of the 3 coats). To view the color choices available in the translucent exterior stains, go to ... www.nam.sikkens.com. Note: these are the translucent colors, not the transparent colors.
Most of my paint products come from Benjamin Moore. Fully painted chairs, sailboats, surfboards, dolphins etc. have a primer coat and two coats of paint in addition to touch-up.
Ordering: It's easy ... you can used the Contact Form on this website, send me a separate email, or call me. I am located in the Central Time Zone. Due to the custom nature of my work, once I start, it takes between 14 and 60 days to complete an order, depending upon the wood, the finish and the number of pieces.
Local Delivery: Delivery is available in a limited geographical area (most of my deliveries are from Pensacola to Panama City, Florida). Local delivery fees apply. Or you can pick up your furniture when it's finished.
Nationwide Shipping: I now ship nationwide! This includes custom heavy-duty double-walled boxes for furniture protection. I also use thick corrugated pallots (they each ship 1700 pounds) that are easily disposed after delivery. Each pallot only weighs 11 pounds so they are consistent in weight and cut down on shipping charges for the customer. Many garbage companies will not take away heavy wood pallots because of the dangerous nails sticking out. If interested, please send me an e-mail or call. I live in the Central Time Zone - please no calls after 6:30 cst.
